with Percy Turner as manager, had a relatively successful first season in the Kent League, 1945/46 and reached the Kent Senior Shield semi final. The following season, Ramsgate Athletic changed colours from Black and Amber (which Margate and Folkestone played in) to their now familiar Red. The 'Redskins' finished fifth and in the FA Cup defeated Dover 9-0 and Southern League Gravesend and Northfleet. They also reached final of the Kent Senior Shield and the semi final of the Kent Senior Cup. In 1947/48, Ramsgate reached the Kent League Cup final, but were beaten by Margate 2-1. The following season, after just missing out in the league, Ramsgate beat Gillingham Res. to win the League Cup 3-2, at Southwood, before 4000 fans. 1949/50 at last saw the Kent League championship come to Southwood. They were also semi finalists in the Kent Senior Cup and League Cup. Percy Turner, then Mayor of Ramsgate, retired on health grounds and George Robinson began the 1950/51 season as manager, but was succeeded by Charlie Walker, with Robinson reverting to coach. Former Scottish International, Jimmy Blair took over as manager in 1953. In November 1955, a record 5083 saw the match against Margate at Southwood. That month Ramsgate played in the FA Cup First Round Proper for the only time in their history. They lost 3-5 away at Waterford, of Div. 3, before over 12000 fans, including many from Ramsgate. The Kent League was won again that season, 1956/57. In 1957/58 they reached the final of the Kent Senior Cup but lost 0-1 to Sittingbourne, at Gillingham.
